What does 3D mean? It means three dimensions. A point is one dimension. A plane has two dimensions. A cube, cylinder, or sphere have three dimensions and have volume.
In Math class you can see a plane on an xy coordinate. You'll have to imagine the z plane to think of the third dimension. A piece of paper is like two dimensions, a box has three dimensions. A circle is 2D while a sphere or globe is 3D.
